Initial Assessment & Evaluation
The first step to beginning treatment is to participate in a comprehensive initial evaluation. Through the use of clinical interview, self- and parent-report forms, and information obtained from other relevant sources, Dr. Spoto will work to clarify the specific nature of the emotional and behavioral problems a patient is experiencing and will make appropriate treatment recommendations.
Individual Treatment
Treatment is tailored to match an individual’s specific needs, and depending on the client’s concerns, may involve gradual exposure to feared situations, skill building, anxiety management training, or helping parents with limit setting and rule enforcement.
Group Treatment
Depending on patient need and interest, Dr. Spoto may offer small groups, usually composed of 5 to 7 members, who meet once a week for 60 minutes for a limited period of time. The group’s focus is intended to provide peer support as well as to teach cognitive behavioral techniques to target a specific diagnostic presentation (e.g., social anxiety).
